Adrian Newey, Chief Technical Officer, will be leaving Red Bull Technologies Group in the first quarter of 2025, announced today.

The engineering guru will take a leave of absence from Formula One design responsibilities to concentrate on the completion and release of Red Bull’s first hypercar, the much-awaited RB17.

Adrian joined Racing in 2006, and the team has won seven F1 Drivers’ Championship titles, six Constructors’ Championship titles, 118 victories, 101 poles, and the STR 2008 victory. Adrian’s vision and technical leadership have been crucial to the team’s success.

RB3, Adrian’s first official design for the team, finished third in the 2007 European Grand Prix. With Sebastian Vettel and Toro Rosso, his design won the group’s maiden race at the Italian GP the following year.

His clean sheet RB5 design helped the team win five more races that season, including its first, which came at the Chinese Grand Prix in 2009.

2010 saw RB6 lead the team to its first-ever double-title win; when hybrid power was introduced to the series in 2014, allowing for the development of the Valkyrie hypercar.

Honda’s 2019 entrance as the team’s power unit partner sparked his competitive spirit once more. In 2021, RB16B won its first championship in eight years.
